Sunflower oil is either High Oleic or High Linoleic. High Oleic is known to have the highest amount of Oleic (monounsaturated) acid and of all plant oils, with about 85%
oleic acid. It is a clear light honey colored oil with a bland odor and taste, and relatively rich in the essential vitamin E, and low in saturated fat.
When
high in oleic content, Sunflower oil possesses a much longer shelf life than regular Sunflower oil as the natural antioxidants help to prevent rancidity. High Oleic is commonly used as a frying oil for food preparation, in cosmetic formulations as an emollient, and in nutritional supplements.

Safe for Infants and Children
Sunflower oil is also very useful on infants in preventing diaper rash and skin infections. It is also highly beneficial for iInfant massage. Studies using sunflower oil have been conducted involving premature and low birth weight babies who are often susceptible to infection due to their underdeveloped skin. The study determined that infants receiving a daily massage with sunflower oil were 41% less likely to develop infections while in the hospital.
Oil massage for newborns reportedly improves weight gain and overall growth in preterm infants, by better thermoregulation. Studies show massaging prematurely born infants demonstrated enhanced weight gain and an increase in body length. It is also beneficial and calming for full term babies to receive daily infant massage.
